US Coast Guard Launches Search For Missing Medical Evacuation Plane

The United States Coast Guard has launched a search operation for a medical evacuation plane that went missing while travelling from Bermuda to Boston with six people on board.

The Coast Guard said on Saturday that surface vessels and aircraft were searching for the Gulfstream G100 off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

The aircraft, operated by Canada-based Latitude Air Ambulance, disappeared from radar at about 1:30 a.m., according to the company’s spokesman, Clarence Togeretz, who spoke to AFP.

Togeretz said the aircraft was carrying two pilots, two medical personnel, a patient and a family member.

“It was carrying two pilots, two medical staff, one patient and a family member,” he said, adding that he had no further information on the ongoing rescue operation.

Latitude Air Ambulance operates a fleet of 10 aircraft used for repatriation and medical evacuation services, transporting patients back home from locations around the world.
