President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said the operationalization of new Nigerian Army formations in four states will bring troops closer to vulnerable communities and strengthen the military’s response to security threats.
He added that the Nigerian Army had this week operationalized new formations in Zamfara, Kebbi, Oyo and Osun states.
The President disclosed this in a post on his official X handle, saying the development would enhance the military’s capacity to respond quickly and decisively when Nigerians are threatened.
According to him, the new formations would position troops closer to communities vulnerable to attacks and other security challenges.
Tinubu also disclosed that the Federal Government was fast-tracking the construction of new barracks and depots in Abuja, Ekiti, Ebonyi and Kogi states, while the project in Osun State had been completed.
He said the move was part of efforts to provide better support and facilities for members of the Armed Forces as they carry out their duties across the country.
The President also noted that the recent increase in the pay of servicemen and women was already making a difference in the lives of troops and their families.
“Every deployment is a sacrifice made by a family too,” Tinubu said, stressing the need for the country to support military personnel and their families.
He said as the Armed Forces continued to protect the country, his responsibility as Commander-in-Chief was to ensure that they had the resources and support required to perform their duties.
Tinubu added that Nigeria must also stand firmly behind the families of military personnel who remain at home while their loved ones are deployed to protect the country.
