Hajj: NAHCON, NSCDC Deepen Security Pact To Protect Nigerian Pilgrims

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have moved to strengthen their security partnership, with a renewed focus on protecting Nigerian pilgrims and improving crowd management during future Hajj operations.

The commitment was reached on Wednesday when the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, at Hajj House, Abuja.

The meeting centred on enhancing inter-agency cooperation in security, crowd movement management, pilgrim safety and operational coordination during the annual pilgrimage.

Audi commended the NAHCON leadership for its ongoing reforms to reposition the Nigerian Hajj industry and assured the Commission of the NSCDC’s continued support and cooperation.

He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between the two agencies to ensure effective security arrangements and the smooth movement of large numbers of pilgrims during Hajj operations.

Responding, Yusuf expressed appreciation to the NSCDC chief for the visit and reaffirmed NAHCON’s commitment to strengthening the existing partnership.

The NAHCON chairman said closer coordination with security agencies was essential to safeguarding Nigerian pilgrims and ensuring the successful and orderly conduct of future Hajj operations.

The renewed commitment is expected to strengthen preparations for subsequent pilgrimages, particularly in the areas of crowd control, security coordination and the protection of pilgrims throughout Hajj operations.

The meeting further underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration in delivering a safer and more efficient Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims.

The statement was signed by Shafii Sani Mohammed, Head of the Information and Publications Division of NAHCON.
