“Ojo Akinbami killed his wife and one child, while Eddy More also killed another child. After killing them, we threw their bodies into the river.”

When asked what he felt should be their punishment, Hammed said they deserved to be killed.

Oyo State Police Command had arrested the suspects in connection with the gruesome murder and robbery of a family at Oloba Village, Lagelu Local Government Area of Ibadan.

The arrest followed credible intelligence received by the Command on 2 October 2026 at about 1700hrs regarding the incident, which occurred on 22 September 2026 at about 1900hrs.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, who disclosed this on Wednesday, said that acting promptly on the information, detectives commenced an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.

“During the invasion, the suspects robbed the family of ₦200,000 cash, a Boxer motorcycle, a Doma machine with a chainsaw and a spraying machine.

“In the course of the attack, Hammed Akinbami shot the husband, while Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward inflicted injuries on the wife by hitting her on the head.

“The attack subsequently took a fatal turn as the suspects tied two of the children by their hands and legs and threw them into a nearby river, while the remaining members of the family were killed and their bodies disposed of in the same river”, he said.

In continuation of the investigation, Olayinka said detectives of the Command visited the scene, where photographs were taken, and several exhibits were recovered.

The recovered items included the Boxer motorcycle belonging to the family, one locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and the club used during the attack. The three suspects were subsequently arrested and detained.
