Four aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary for Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency have stepped down and adopted former Commissioner for Works, AbdulQawiy Olododo, as consensus candidate.
The decision followed a stakeholders’ and elders’ consultation meeting held in Ilorin East Local Government Area on Saturday.
The aspirants who withdrew from the race are Ambassador Tajudeen Ibraheem Olesin, former Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Afeez Abolore, Hon. Babatunde Ajadi Yakubu (Prudent), and Hon. Mashood Gobir.
They pledged their full support for Olododo’s candidacy in the ongoing primaries and ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development comes as nine aspirants, including incumbent lawmaker Dr. Yinka Aluko, are contesting the APC ticket for the constituency.
