Yobe ADC Stakeholders Endorse Atiku Abubakar As Presidential Candidate

Critical stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Yobe State have endorsed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The endorsement was announced on Saturday in Damaturu following statewide consultations ahead of the party’s presidential primary scheduled for May 25–26, 2026.

The resolution was jointly signed by key party leaders, including the State Party Leader, Adamu Maina Waziri; State Chairman, Alhaji Umar Kalli; and gubernatorial candidate Kassim Gana Gaidam, on behalf of other ADC candidates in the state.

The stakeholders said their decision was based on Atiku’s “proven track record,” national political reach, and extensive governance experience, which they argued positioned him as the most suitable candidate for the 2027 election.

“After thorough review of the presidential aspirants and a careful assessment of their capacities, national acceptability, and capability to effectively and successfully confront the candidate of the ruling party, we unanimously endorsed Alhaji Atiku Abubakar,” the resolution stated.

They further said Atiku’s aspiration was driven by his background in public service, national political acceptability, and experience in economic management and leadership, adding that these qualities were necessary to address Nigeria’s socio-economic and security challenges.

The resolution also called on ADC members in Yobe State and across the country to support efforts aimed at unseating the incumbent administration, urging voters to back what it described as a tested and competent alternative in Atiku Abubakar.

It alleged that the current administration had shown “intolerance and state capture of public institutions,” and urged citizens to vote for change in the 2027 general elections.
