Amaechi Makes First Public Appearance After Being Named Atiku’s Running Mate [VIDEO]

Former Governor of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has made his first public appearance since his selection as a vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Amaechi arrived at the Deeper Life Bible Church in Kado, Abuja, to attend the opening day of the Global Crusade.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Dr. William Folorunsho Kumuyi, is expected to minister at the event.

His appearance comes days after the ADC announced on June 15, that he would serve as the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the party’s bid for the 2027 presidential election.

According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the selection was finalized after consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, and various stakeholder groups across the geopolitical zones in the country.

Amaechi’s new role comes after he finished second to Atiku in the ADC presidential primary in May 2026. Although he originally sought the presidency, his decision to accept the vice-presidential slot is viewed by political analysts as a major compromise to unify the opposition coalition.

The ADC has described the Atiku-Amaechi pairing as a unity and rescue ticket designed to offer a strong alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election scheduled for January  2027.
