The majority leader Benue State House of Assembly and member representing Kwande West constituency, Thomas Dugeri, has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) and joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dugeri, who lost the State Assembly APC return ticket emerged as the PDP candidate to run for 2027 general elections.
State PDP Deputy Chairman, Adzua Ashongo, presented Dugeri to the immediate past Governor of Benue State and leader of the PDP in the state, Samuel Ortom in Abuja.
Speaking during the meeting with Ortom, Dugeri assured the PDP of his loyalty and commitment, promising to work with other stakeholders of the party towards securing victory for the PDP.
Welcoming Dugeri to PDP, Ortom assured him and his supporters of equal opportunities and a level playing field within the party.
Ortom described PDP as a broad political family where both old and new members have an equal role to play in strengthening the party and advancing its quest to return to power in 2027 to govern Benue State.
