Police Probe Delivery Of Parcel Containing Live Ammunition To Bank MD’s Residence

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing two live rounds of ammunition to the residence of the Managing Director of a top bank.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Tijani Fatai, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja during a review of the command’s activities over the past two weeks.

CP Fatai described the incident as a serious security concern, revealing that the parcel was delivered to the top bank chief’s residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos on May 7, 2026.

According to the Police Commissioner, the parcel was received by a security guard attached to the residence on behalf of the bank executive.

“The Managing Director of First Bank reported that a parcel collected by a security guard at his residence was later opened and found to contain two live rounds of ammunition,” Fatai said.

He disclosed that the recovered ammunition was identified as 7.62mm calibre rounds, prompting the police to immediately launch an investigation into the incident.

The commissioner said no arrest had been made in connection with the case, but assured that detectives were pursuing all available leads to identify and apprehend those responsible.

CP Fatai noted that although the complainant had mentioned some individuals suspected to be linked to the incident, he added that such claims remained allegations pending the outcome of investigations.

“Those mentioned are merely suspects based on the complainant’s suspicion. Our investigation will determine those truly connected to the incident,” he stated.

He urged the public to refrain from speculation, stressing that no individual or organisation had been officially linked to the incident at this stage. The police chief assured that the investigation would be thorough and that anyone found culpable would be brought to justice.
