Perez Hilton’s family has asked for privacy and urged the public to disregard reports about the blogger’s condition that have not come directly from his official website.
In an update published Saturday, August 8, the family confirmed that Hilton remains hospitalised under Florida’s Baker Act following the recent incident where he appeared to self-harm during a livestream at his Miami home.
The law allows authorities, judges or medical professionals to temporarily hold someone for a mental health evaluation.
According to his relatives, Hilton’s communication is currently restricted to close family members, medical professionals and others directly involved in his treatment. They also stressed that he has not spoken to the media or released any public statement about his condition.
The family said reports circulating about the circumstances surrounding the incident contain “false and inaccurate” information and asked people to rely only on statements published on PerezHilton.com.
A further update published by the family said Hilton’s condition remains serious but stable. He has reportedly suffered significant blood loss and additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.
His relatives also appealed to members of the media and public to respect the family’s privacy, particularly around his children, as they focus on his treatment and recovery.
The family expressed appreciation for the support and compassion shown during the difficult period.
