Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has received another prestigious national recognition for his outstanding achievements in healthcare infrastructure and development.
The award was presented at the States Competitiveness and Investment Readiness Awards (SCIRA) 2026, organised by BusinessDay Newspaper and held at the NAF Conference Centre and suites.
The Bauchi State commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman, received the outstanding Governor on Health Infrastructure Award on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed.
Speaking with journalists yesterday in Bauchi after the event, the commissioner described the honour as a testament to Governor Mohammed’s transformational leadership, visionary governance and people-centred policies, which continue to drive sustainable development and improve the living standards of the people of Bauchi State.
According to him, the award was conferred in recognition of the governor’s sustained investments in the health sector, including the construction and renovation of healthcare facilities, upgrading of medical infrastructure, procurement of modern equipment and implementation of reforms aimed at improving healthcare service delivery across both urban and rural communities.
Usman noted that since assuming office, Governor Bala Mohammed has consistently prioritised the health sector as a key component of his administration’s development agenda. He said the state has witnessed significant improvements in healthcare delivery through strategic investments designed to expand access to quality and affordable medical services.
He explained that the SCIRA Awards brought together senior government officials, development partners, policymakers and private sector leaders, serving as a national platform for assessing sub-national performance in governance, infrastructure development and investment readiness.
The commissioner described the recognition as an affirmation of the administration’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector as a critical pillar of development in Bauchi State.
He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to sustain ongoing reforms, expand access to quality healthcare services and improve the welfare of citizens across the state.
According to Usman, the SCIRA Awards assess states based on measurable indicators of governance performance, infrastructure delivery and economic competitiveness, providing a benchmark for evaluating development across Nigeria.
He stated that the award highlights Bauchi State’s remarkable progress in healthcare development and reflects the administration’s commitment to improving public service delivery through targeted investments in critical sectors.
The commissioner further noted that the recognition serves as evidence of Governor Bala Mohammed’s determination to build a resilient healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of present and future generations.
He expressed appreciation to the organisers for acknowledging the achievements recorded by the Bauchi State government in the health sector and pledged that the administration would continue to implement policies and programmes aimed at enhancing the well-being of the people.
“This award is not only a recognition of the achievements recorded so far, but also an encouragement to continue pursuing excellence in healthcare infrastructure and service delivery for the benefit of all citizens,” he said.
