Few days after Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, declared that he is now a member of the ‘Rainbow Coalition’, some of his loyalists have joined the coalition, which was founded by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The coalition is largely made up of prominent chieftains of political parties in the state, especially the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Labour Party, the Action Alliance (AA) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Prominent among Fubara’s Loyalists, who declared for the coalition are former Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon. Edison Ehie, former Chairman of Port Harcourt City local government area, Hon. Ezebunwo Ichemati, and former Chairman of Omuma LGA, Hon. Promise Reginald.
Others are former Chairman of Emohua LGA, Hon. David Omereji, former factional speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, and former Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo.
Ihunwo, who is also former chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in the state, confirmed the development while speaking on a life radio programme monitored in Port Harcourt.
Ihunwo stated that the individuals were acting in obedience to the directives of the governor, who had instructed them to support the coalition as well as the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu.
LEADERSHIP observed that members of the Simplified Movement, the political structure of the governor, have since Fubara’s declaration, been collapsing their structures in several communities across the state.
