Lady Rescued After ‘Suicide Attempt’ In Lagos Lagoon

There was panic around the Idumota-Carter Bridge in Lagos on Tuesday after a young woman plunged into the Lagos Lagoon in an apparent suicide attempt before she was rescued by a nearby boat operator.

Viral video footage of the incident shows the woman being paddled from the water by the boat operator to safety, while onlookers were lamenting, averting what could have been a fatal outcome.

The footage, which has since circulated widely on social media, captures the woman being ferried aboard the boat after she was retrieved from the lagoon even as one of the sympathisers is heard cautioning against handing the woman over to the Police authorities.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear as of the time of filing this report, while the reason behind the suspected suicide attempt could not be immediately ascertained. The identity of the woman and her condition were also yet to be disclosed as at press time.
