Fayose To Be Inaugurated As REA Board Chairman Today

Former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, will today be inaugurated as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), marking his formal assumption of office following his recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Ministry of Power headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

Ahead of the ceremony, Fayose on Thursday met with the Minister of Power, Engr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, to discuss preparations for the inauguration and the new Board’s agenda for improving the agency’s performance in delivering electricity projects to rural and underserved communities.

President Tinubu recently appointed Fayose as REA Board Chairman as part of the reconstitution of the agency’s governing board.

According to details released by the Presidency, the Board also comprises Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, alongside three previously appointed executive directors, will complete the Board.

The Rural Electrification Agency is responsible for expanding electricity access to rural communities, promoting off-grid and renewable energy solutions, and advancing the Federal Government’s rural electrification agenda. Fayose is expected to formally assume leadership of the Board following today’s inauguration.
