Ogun Police Nab ‘Pastor’ Over Alleged N2.5m Jerusalem Pilgrimage Scam

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a man identified as Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as “Pastor Kenny,” in Ibadan, Oyo State, over an alleged N2.5 million fraud involving 18 fellowship members.

Makinde was accused of collecting the money from the members in Saje, Adatan, under the pretext of arranging a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem and promising each participant N2 million.

The suspect was also alleged to have defrauded and manipulated unsuspecting victims in Ogun, Oyo and Osun States under the guise of providing spiritual deliverance.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.

According to Babaseyi, Makinde was arrested following four months of intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance by detectives attached to the Obantoko Division.

He said, “Following four months of sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigation, Detectives attached to the Obantoko Division, on 3rd August, 2026, at about 1645hrs, arrested Kehinde Makinde ‘M’, popularly known as “Pastor Kenny,” in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The arrest followed investigations into allegations that the suspect fraudulently manipulated unsuspecting victims under the guise of spiritual deliverance across Ogun, Oyo and Osun States.

“Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspect allegedly obtained approximately N2.5 million from eighteen fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, under the false pretence of organising a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem and promising each member N2 million.

“The suspect remains in Police custody while efforts continue to identify additional victims and apprehend his accomplices.”

The police said investigation was ongoing to uncover more victims and determine whether other persons were involved in the alleged scheme.
