Fintiri Reaffirms Commitment To Devt Of Yola Law School Campus

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the Yola Campus of the Nigerian Law School remains functional, well-equipped and developed to the required standard.

Governor Fintiri stated this when he received the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Olugbemi Sola, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Government House in Yola.

The Governor said the Adamawa State Government had continued to support the institution through various interventions aimed at improving the learning and living conditions of students and staff.

He disclosed that the state government had constructed four blocks of students’ hostels with a combined capacity to accommodate about 80 students.

Fintiri explained that the intervention was part of his administration’s deliberate efforts to address the needs of the Yola Campus and provide a conducive environment for legal education in the state.

The Governor also underscored the importance of reliable electricity to the effective operation of the institution.

He said the Rural Electrification Agency project recently inaugurated to provide two megawatts of electricity to Mbamba community was also expected to benefit the Yola Campus of the Nigerian Law School.

According to him, the project would significantly improve electricity supply to the institution, with the campus expected to enjoy a minimum of 23 hours of electricity daily within the next six months.

On the issue of the Certificate of Occupancy for the campus, Fintiri said the Nigerian Law School was expected to process the necessary documentation through the Office of the Surveyor-General of the State.

He explained that the title document would be issued at a subsidised rate as part of the state government’s continued support for the institution.

The Governor further promised to intervene in some outstanding challenges affecting the campus, particularly water supply and the payment of compensation to residents whose properties were affected by the development of the institution.

He assured the delegation that his administration would continue to collaborate with the Nigerian Law School to address issues that could hinder the smooth operation and further development of the Yola Campus.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Olugbemi Sola, expressed appreciation to Governor Fintiri and the Adamawa State Government for the various intervention projects provided to the institution.

Dr. Sola appealed to the Governor to use his influence to engage his counterparts in the Northern Governors’ Forum and other critical stakeholders in the region to support additional development projects at the Yola Campus.

She described the campus as an important institution for the advancement of legal education in Northern Nigeria and called for continued collaboration among the Nigerian Law School, the Adamawa State Government and other stakeholders.

She said additional support for the Yola Campus would not only improve its facilities but also strengthen its capacity to contribute to the training of future legal practitioners in the region.
