Georgina Rodriguez has opened up about why she and Cristiano Ronaldo opted for a small wedding at home instead of a lavish celebration.
The couple recently announced their marriage in a joint Instagram post, with the ceremony taking place in the living room of their home in Cascais, Portugal.
Speaking to Vogue, Rodriguez revealed that her idea of a dream wedding has changed significantly since childhood. As a young girl, she imagined a grand celebration complete with a castle, a carriage, a long wedding gown, and a diamond crown.
Her priorities are now different, with the model saying she wanted the occasion to be centred on her family rather than extravagance.
“As a little girl, I envisioned the grandest castle, the most magnificent carriage, the longest gown and a crown adorned with diamonds,” she said.
“Now, I find myself saying: no. I desire something intimate, shared with my partner and our children, in the comfort of our home.”
Rodriguez explained that the couple already have access to luxurious properties, cars, horses and other extravagant experiences, making a lavish wedding less meaningful to them.
She said choosing their living room was particularly significant because it is where the family shares everyday moments together.
“In 30 years, I want our children to remember that something wonderful occurred at this table, the wedding vows of our parents,” she said.
