Gov Bala Congratulates Newly Elected 20 Bauchi LG Chairmen

Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has congratulated the newly elected chairmen of the 20 local government councils in the state following the announcement of the results of Monday’s local government elections by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC).

The governor described the elections as successful, peaceful and credible, commending BASIEC, security agencies, political parties, election officials, observers, the media and other stakeholders for their contributions to the smooth conduct of the exercise.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed particularly commended the people of Bauchi State for their peaceful and orderly participation in the elections.

He noted that the electorate had once again demonstrated their commitment to democracy by freely exercising their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.

While congratulating the newly – elected chairmen, the governor urged them to regard their victories as a call to service and a mandate from the people rather than merely an achievement.

He charged the new council chairmen to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate by providing effective, transparent and accountable leadership at the grassroots.

Governor Mohammed also urged them to prioritise the welfare and development of their respective local government areas, promote peace and unity, and work closely with their communities to address their needs and aspirations.

He assured the newly-elected chairmen of the continued support and cooperation of the Bauchi State Government as they discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the law and in the overall interest of the people.

The governor wished the new chairmen a successful tenure in office and called on them to uphold the trust and confidence placed in them by the people of their respective local government areas.

The chairperson of BASIEC, Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar, announced that the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) won all 20 chairmanship seats contested in Monday’s Bauchi State local government elections.
