The Niger Delta Presidential Supporters for Tinubu 2027 has urged its members to prioritise governance, accountability and the welfare of the citizens as they mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The national coordinator of the group, Joseph Ebodei, gave the charge during the inauguration of state coordinators of the organisation at the National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, yesterday.
Ebodei said the group’s support for Tinubu should go beyond political mobilisation, urging its coordinators to engage Nigerians with facts and demonstrate how the administration’s policies were affecting their lives.
“Our support for Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is based on our belief in a Renewed Hope Agenda, and our desire to see a stronger, more prosperous, and united Nigeria,” he said.
He urged the newly inaugurated coordinators to build structures that were transparent, people-oriented and responsive to the needs of their communities.
“I charge every state coordinator to build an organisation that is open, transparent, and people-oriented.
“Let us visit our communities, identify their concerns, and contribute positively to our respective state and the Niger Delta region,” he said.
Ebodei also warned the supporters against spreading misinformation in their efforts to secure support for Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress in 2027.
“As supporters, we must communicate responsibility, avoid misinformation, and engage the people with facts, respect, and humility,” he said.
The coordinator said leadership should not be reduced to political positions, stressing that those entrusted with leadership must be accountable to the people.
“We must also remember that leadership is not about title. Leadership is about service, sacrifice, accountability, and result,” he said.
He said the organisation would work across the Niger Delta states to promote unity and peaceful political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group also said it had appointed governors in the Niger Delta states as senior patrons as part of efforts to strengthen its structure and coordinate its activities across the region.
Speaking at the event, veteran Nollywood actor, Hanks Anuku, urged Nigerians to support Tinubu, describing the President as a leader who, according to him, loves the country.
“Being a president is being a father to all,” Anuku said.
He urged supporters to take the campaign to the grassroots and educate Nigerians on the importance of participating in the electoral process.
“We must represent all these from the grassroots because we must teach the children the way they should go,” he said.
Anuku also called on Nigerians to unite and work towards a country that would deliver greater opportunities for its citizens.
“We come together so that we can accomplish one good aim and dream that will bring value to everybody, especially the treasury and the GDP of Nigeria,” he said.
Also speaking, the national secretary of the organisation, Dennis Ariaga, said the group had developed an operational structure that would extend from the national level to states, local government areas, wards and polling units.
Ariaga said the structure was designed to drive the group’s campaign for Tinubu while taking the administration’s policies and programmes to the grassroots.
He described the inauguration as the beginning of the organisation’s operational activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event was attended by state coordinators, political leaders, media representatives and other stakeholders from the Niger Delta and other parts of the country.
