Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and thanked him for allowing what he described as a free and fair election in the state.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Adeleke said he was at the Presidential Villa to appreciate the President for his commitment to democracy.
The governor described Tinubu as the “father of the nation” and said the President had fought for democracy.
“Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy,” Adeleke said.
He said Tinubu’s decision to allow a free and fair election produced the outcome witnessed in Osun State.
“That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result,” the governor added.
Adeleke said his visit was also aimed at appreciating the President for his role in ensuring that democracy continues to thrive in Nigeria.
“That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria,” he said.
