Former Miss South Africa contestant and Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 winner Chidimma Adetshina says she has been treated unfairly and targeted in South Africa as her legal challenge against possible deportation and detention continues, with the matter being postponed to February 2027.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, August 19, after the Cape Town Regional Court postponed the case, Adetshina said she remained confident in South Africa’s judicial system and intended to pursue the matter through legal channels.
The beauty queen also reminded the public that she was born in South Africa, as she continues to challenge the circumstances surrounding her potential deportation and detention.
Adetshina became the centre of a nationality controversy during her participation in the 2024 Miss South Africa pageant before withdrawing from the competition. She later represented Nigeria at Miss Universe 2024 and finished as second runner-up.
