‎Ondo Hausa Community Declares Support For Tinubu’s Second Term

‎The Hausa community in Ondo State has declared its support for the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, citing the administration’s reforms and infrastructure projects.

‎The endorsement was made in Akure, the state capital, by representatives of the Hausa community from the 18 local government areas of the state at an event organised by the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT) and sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

‎Speaking on behalf of the community, the Ondo State leader of Hausa in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Bala Umaru, said the decision reflected the community’s confidence in the Tinubu administration and its desire for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

‎Umaru said the administration inherited serious economic and social challenges but had embarked on reforms aimed at repositioning the country for sustainable growth.

‎He listed infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, investment, job creation and economic development among areas where the administration had introduced reforms, adding that such measures required patience and cooperation from Nigerians.

‎Umaru particularly commended the Federal Government’s road construction projects, saying good roads were critical to the economic activities of northerners who transport agricultural produce across the country.

‎“In the history of Nigeria, there is no president that has embarked on massive road construction like the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

‎He also recalled Tinubu’s role in the political emergence of former President Muhammadu Buhari, arguing that it was natural for northerners to reciprocate the support by backing the President for another term.

‎The Hausa leader also commended Tunji-Ojo for his leadership and development initiatives, saying the community appreciated his efforts in serving the people and mobilising residents and non-indigenes in support of the administration.

‎Speaking at the event, the Director-General of GMT, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, said the Hausa endorsement was part of a wider mobilisation of ethnic communities in Ondo State for Tinubu’s second-term bid.

‎Yusuf-Ogunleye said the Ebira and Igbo communities had earlier endorsed Tinubu, adding that the Hausa community had now joined the growing list of ethnic groups supporting the President.

‎He said the Hausa community, which he described as committed and loyal, supported Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election and had resolved to back him again in 2027 despite the possibility of other aspirants from the North contesting the presidency.

‎A member of the GMT Board of Trustees, Hon. Adekola Olawoye, SAN, described the gathering as significant, saying the organisation had been mobilising non-indigenes and different ethnic groups in the state with a target of securing one million votes for Tinubu.

‎The event was attended by GMT Secretary, Hon. Rasheed Badmus; Director of Women Affairs, Chief Olamide Falana; Director of Media, Ojo Oyewamide; Akure South Coordinator, Hon. Gbenga Olaniyi; and a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Fatai Atere, among other community leaders and supporters.
