Zuma Agric Radio has committed N1 million to the forthcoming Dr Ladi Kwali International Pottery Festival, holding in September at the Ladi Kwali Pottery Centre in Suleja, Niger State.
The cheque was presented to the general manager of the Niger State Tourism Corporation, Hajiya Zainab Mohammed, where both organisations strengthened their collaboration for the successful hosting of the event.
The festival is expected to celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr Ladi Kwali while promoting pottery, traditional craftsmanship, cultural heritage and tourism.
The broadcast station, in a statement it issued yesterday, noted that the partnership also reflected Zuma Agric Radio’s interest in supporting the rural economy, particularly traditional crafts that provide livelihoods, encourage enterprise development and contribute to community resilience.
Speaking at the cheque handover, Chief Executive Officer of Zuma Agric Radio, Shuaibu Kere Ahmed said the station’s involvement extended beyond its broadcasting responsibilities.
He said, “Our commitment goes beyond broadcasting. We believe in supporting initiatives that strengthen communities, preserve our heritage and create economic opportunities.
We are proud to collaborate with the Niger State Tourism Corporation in supporting the Dr. Ladi Kwali International Pottery Festival.”
Receiving the contribution, Mohammed appreciated Zuma Agric Radio for supporting the festival and recognising its potential to advance cultural preservation and tourism development.
“We deeply appreciate Zuma Agric Radio for this generous support and for recognising the importance of the Dr. Ladi Kwali International Pottery Festival.
This collaboration demonstrates what is possible when institutions come together to promote our cultural heritage, support local enterprise and strengthen tourism,” she said.
The festival is expected to attract artisans, potters, cultural practitioners, tourism stakeholders, creative entrepreneurs and members of the public to Suleja for activities celebrating the life and contributions of Dr. Ladi Kwali, whose work helped place Nigerian pottery on the international cultural map.
