British pop star Robbie Williams is set to perform twice at this year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup Day, one of Australia’s biggest horse racing events, at Flemington Racecourse on Tuesday, November 3.
Williams will headline the Elms Live Stage after the day’s final race before delivering a second performance in the mounting yard as part of the Nine Network broadcast, ahead of the Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy presentation.
The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) described the mounting yard performance as the biggest pre-Cup show ever staged at the venue. Both performances will be included in the price of general admission.
The singer said the event would mark his first performance at Flemington and described it as his first stop ahead of his Australian Britpop tour.
Williams’ appearance comes during a successful period in his career, following the release of his 13th studio album, Britpop, which topped the UK Official Albums Chart and gave him his 16th No. 1 album in the country.
