Seven people of same family have been killed in a fatal auto crash Along Kutugi – Bida road at Shebe Village on the way to a wedding in Niger state.
Eye witness account revealed that the accident involved a Mazda vehicle traveling from Minna to Mokwa and a Seinna car that is coming from Lagos en route Minna Niger state.
The account further disclosed that the Mazda vehicle had a head-on collision with on coming Seinna while trying to dodge a bad portion of the road.
It was learnt from another villager Malam Sachi Isah that drivers usually crash at the corner of the road that is bad despite efforts by village volunteers to fix the part of the road.
He said 7 dead bodies were counted at the spot of the accident while the injured ones some sustain serious injuries were taken rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
A check revealed that the victims were members of the family of late Alhaji Abubakar Daja , a former Commissioner of Education in the state between 1999 and 2003.
The Niger State Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Aisha Sa’adu confirmed to LEADERSHIP that “As at the time of the rescue, 18 people were involved: 7 injured, 7 killed and 4 not injured.
“It was a multiple crash involving two vehicles a Mazda and a sienna. Along Kutugi – Bida road at Shebe Village,” he added.
