2027: Tinubu, First Lady, Zulum Kept Me In Senate Race – Ndume

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has said President Bola Tinubu, Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, played significant roles in his return to the Senate race ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Borno South lawmaker stated this yesterday when he hosted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Executive from Gwoza Local Government Area at his residence in Maiduguri.

The party executives were at the senator’s residence to congratulate him following his emergence as the APC candidate for the 2027 Borno South Senatorial election.

Ndume described the development as the will of Allah, noting that while human beings may make plans, ultimate authority and destiny remain in the hands of God.

He recalled how his name was initially omitted from the list presented for consideration for the party’s senatorial tickets, but said President Tinubu insisted that his name be included.

According to him, Governor Zulum and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, also demonstrated remarkable solidarity by supporting his inclusion.

“Names were given to Mr President for the ticket positions of the APC amongst us senators, and my name was not there. Mr President insisted that they should return and include my name. Before we could even blink, Governor Zulum was also at the Villa, pushing for the inclusion of my name. So also was Senator Oluremi Tinubu,” Ndume said.

The senator expressed appreciation to the President, Governor Zulum and the First Lady, describing their intervention and solidarity as a demonstration of genuine support which he would not take for granted.

Ndume also disclosed that he had continued to engage President Tinubu on critical infrastructure projects, including the Biu–Gombe and Ngala–Dikwa roads.

He said the President responded positively to the need for improved infrastructure, stressing that the people of Borno have a responsibility to reciprocate the goodwill shown to the state and the North-East.

According to him, the people must also demonstrate their appreciation and support for Vice President Kashim Shettima, whom he described as their own son, by working towards the success of the APC in the 2027 elections.

Ndume therefore charged the Gwoza APC executives to return to their communities and intensify grassroots mobilisation, assuring them that he would work closely with the party structure.

“Go back to your people and mobilise the electorate. I will continue to work closely with the party executives,” he said.

Earlier, the APC Chairman of Gwoza Local Government Area, Hon. Ashigashiya, said the party executives were at the senator’s residence to congratulate him on his emergence as the APC candidate for the Borno South Senatorial election.

He said the visit was also an opportunity to reaffirm the support and commitment of the Gwoza APC leadership to Senator Ndume and the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.

AMG Groups Pay Solidarity Visits

Meanwhile, Senator Ndume also received members of AMG Best Options and AMG Grassroots Mobilisation, who paid separate solidarity visits to identify with him and reaffirm their commitment to grassroots political engagement.

The groups expressed their support for the senator and the APC, particularly as preparations gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Responding, Senator Ndume thanked the groups for the visits and their continued commitment, assuring them of his support for their activities and collective efforts towards strengthening the APC and promoting the development of Borno State.

The series of engagements reflected the growing political mobilisation around Senator Ndume and the APC, as party leaders and grassroots groups begin to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections.
