67 Nigerians Return From South Africa, Receive N50,000 Each

Sixty-seven Nigerians have returned to the country from South Africa, with each returnee receiving N50,000 in financial support from a group of private individuals who facilitated their repatriation.

The returnees arrived at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, aboard a South African Airways flight on Wednesday night.

The latest batch brings to 150 the number of Nigerians repatriated from South Africa with the support of the philanthropic group, following the earlier return of 83 Nigerians.

Speaking to the returnees on behalf of the group, businessman and philanthropist, Chief Charles Mba, urged them to embrace patriotism and comply with regulations guiding their activities in the country.

Mba said their experience in South Africa should not diminish their hopes for the future, particularly for the children among them.

He assured the returnees that whatever challenges they encountered abroad should not prevent them from rebuilding their lives and pursuing opportunities in Nigeria.

The group’s coordinator, Mr Ikem Ume-Ezeoke, commended previous efforts by the federal government to facilitate the return of Nigerians from abroad.

He said Nigeria remained a country with significant opportunities that could be harnessed by the returnees as they settle back home.
