Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Defilement Of 8-Month-Old Stepdaughter In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Balarabe Adamu, over the alleged defilement of his eight-month-old stepdaughter in Toro local government area of the state.

Adamu, a resident of Lame in Toro LGA, was accused of sexually abusing the infant after she was brought to his residence by his wife.

A statement issued on Friday by the Command’s public relations officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the police received a report of the incident on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the victim was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Toro, where she was subjected to medical examination and treatment.

The Command said operatives attached to the Gumau Division swiftly responded to the report and arrested the suspect, who is currently in police custody undergoing investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged act and assured members of the public that the case would be thoroughly investigated.

He further said the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation, in accordance with the law.

The Command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against all forms of sexual violence and child abuse, urging parents, guardians and community leaders to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The statement added that further updates on the case would be communicated to the public in due course.
