Emir Sanusi II Leads Maiden Maulud Durbar in Kano

The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Saturday led the first-ever Maulud Durbar in the history of the Kano Emirate, as thousands of residents trooped out to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Sanusi, emerged for the procession at about 4:40 p.m., riding through major streets in the ancient city amid cheers and greetings from residents.

The Emir began the procession through Kofar Kwaru and proceeded along Mandawari Road, passing through Kwanar Diso and Galadanci before moving around parts of Gwale, where large crowds lined the streets to catch a glimpse of him.

One of the striking moments of the procession was the Emir’s frequent stops to offer prayers for residents. His prayers focused particularly on peace, unity and stability among the people of Kano State.
