Patron of the City Boy Movement, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, has commended an All Progressives Congress (APC) youth, Hon. Bello Ihiovi, for producing customised APC-branded sneakers and a matching face cap.
Ihiovi, a young entrepreneur and APC supporter, presented the items to Seyi Tinubu during a visit to the City Boy office in Abuja.
In a statement issued by Ihiovi in Lokoja on Sunday, he said the products incorporated locally woven Aso Oke fabric.
Speaking on the initiative, Seyi Tinubu described the concept as innovative and said it could encourage young Nigerians to develop their creative skills.
He also noted that the initiative involved the work of artisans such as designers, weavers, tailors and shoemakers.
The customised sneakers and face cap were designed with APC colours and symbols, incorporating Aso Oke fabric into the products.
Ihiovi said the project was intended to demonstrate how political merchandise could be produced locally.
The initiative comes amid ongoing discussions around youth entrepreneurship, skills development and local production.
The Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Wisdom Olawande, has advocated programmes aimed at increasing youth participation in economic activities.
Ihiovi said the project was an attempt to apply indigenous skills to the production of political merchandise.
