Osun Poll: YPP Praises Adeleke, INEC, Security Agencies, Voters

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has congratulated Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in last Saturday’s election, describing the outcome as a clear demonstration of the will of the people.

In a statement, the party said Adeleke’s victory reaffirmed that candidates with the requisite social capital, grassroots support and public acceptance could win elections under any political platform.

The YPP said the people of Osun State made their choice despite the intimidation, tension and challenges that characterised the electoral process, stressing that their mandate must be respected.

The party particularly commended the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, for what it described as courage, professionalism and institutional independence in allowing the will of the Osun people to prevail.

According to the YPP, Amupitan’s commitment to the integrity of the electoral process deserves recognition at a time when public confidence in democratic institutions remains critical.

The party urged Governor Adeleke to regard his second term not merely as a political victory but as a solemn responsibility and an opportunity to improve the quality and inclusiveness of governance across the state.

It noted that the second mandate came against the painful backdrop of lives lost during pre-election violence, urging the governor to ensure that the sacrifices made were not in vain.

The YPP called on Adeleke to accelerate development, improve infrastructure, strengthen education and healthcare, create economic opportunities for young people and ensure that the dividends of democracy reached every part of Osun State.

The party also commended the security agencies for their professionalism and role in maintaining peace during and after the election, saying their efforts helped prevent further escalation of tensions and enabled citizens to exercise their democratic rights.

Above all, the YPP praised the people of Osun State for their resilience and determination in protecting their mandate, describing their action as a reminder that democracy ultimately belongs to the people and that the ballot remains a powerful instrument for determining who governs them.

The party further called on all political actors and stakeholders to accept the election outcome in the spirit of democratic maturity and work collectively for the peace, stability and development of the state.
