2027: APC North Central Targets Highest Votes For Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) North Central has resolved to mobilise massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, with the zone targeting the highest number of votes for the president from the whole of Nigeria.

The resolution was announced by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, at a meeting of North Central APC stakeholders comprising governors, party leaders, government appointees and other critical stakeholders in the office of the Secretary to the government of the federation in Abuja.

Yilwatda said the six states in the zone would mobilise their members and supporters for a mass rally scheduled for October 10, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa State, as part of the mobilisation for Tinubu.

He said, “We agreed that overwhelmingly the North Central will mobilise votes and overwhelmingly support Mr. President as our candidate in the 2027 general election.”

The APC chairman said the rally would be used to demonstrate the zone’s support for Tinubu and communicate its intention to deliver a large number of votes for the president.

He added that the stakeholders also resolved to organise medical outreaches in selected states within the North Central for poor and vulnerable people with health challenges.

Yilwatda said the stakeholders would also constitute a consultation committee to address grievances within the party.

“We’re also going to constitute a consultation committee to ensure that where we have grievances, we mend them and aggregate all the votes and support for Mr. President towards the 2027 general election,” he said.

The APC chairman also addressed disagreements among party members over candidates for elective positions, urging members to support candidates who emerge on the party’s platform.

“We must support our candidates and work for them,” he said.

He added: “We don’t support candidates because we like the candidate, or we believe in those candidates. But the party has presented the candidates for us, and we need to support the party.”

Yilwatda said the stakeholders would meet again the following week to intensify preparations for the Lafia rally and the broader mobilisation programme.

The development followed a presentation by the Grand Patron of the North Central Grassroots Mobilization Network, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, who outlined a three-pronged mobilisation programme for the zone.

According to Akume’s speech, the network was established to mobilise votes across the North Central towards the re-election of Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The programme includes the North Central Grand Rally in Lafia on October 10, a medical outreach in the three senatorial zones of Benue State, and a grassroots advocacy tour and town hall meetings across the 19 senatorial districts in the six states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The medical outreach will include comprehensive eye screening and treatment, refraction and prescription of spectacles, cataract assessment and selected cataract surgical services, glaucoma screening and diabetic eye screening.

Akume said the programme, put together by the National Coordinator,Sonny Echono, his team and other stakeholders, was fully endorsed by the APC National Secretariat.

The programme was intended to ensure that the North Central geopolitical zone delivers the highest number of votes from the northern part of Nigeria in the January 2027 presidential election.
