R&B singer Kehlani has cancelled two shows on her current North American tour after a sudden illness led to a hospital visit.
The 31-year-old singer announced the cancellations on Instagram on Wednesday, August 26, saying she had felt completely well during two days off before her condition unexpectedly worsened.
“After two off days feeling completely normal, I’ve been up all night unable to swallow & in so much pain,” Kehlani wrote. “I just left the hospital & am not cleared to sing for the next two shows. I’m so sorry.”
The affected performances were scheduled for Camden, New Jersey, on August 26, and Columbia, Maryland, on August 27. Kehlani said her team was working on a solution for the shows.
“Breaks my heart to have to ever do this,” she added, explaining that she does everything she can to maintain her health. She said the tour would resume in Virginia.
Her next scheduled concert is at the Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront in Richmond, Virginia, on August 29, according to current tour listings.
Kehlani has not disclosed the nature of the illness or provided further details about her hospital visit.
The cancellations come days after the singer discussed her well-being in a Billboard cover story published on August 20. She spoke about the routines and practices she uses to maintain her mental and physical wellbeing while managing her bipolar disorder.
