2027: NDC Youth Movement Rallies Behind Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket

The NDC Youth Movement has intensified its mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections following a strategic meeting with the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in Abuja.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of the movement, Hon. Abba Mai Fomfo, included other officials of the organisation. Mai Fomfo described the visit to Kwankwaso’s Abuja residence as part of consultations to strengthen the movement’s strategies ahead of the elections.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hon. Tableth Onuoha, said the engagement was designed to strengthen collaboration around the movement’s objective of supporting Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as President and Vice President, respectively, in 2027, as well as other NDC candidates across the country.

Onuoha said the movement was committed to building a nationwide grassroots structure capable of mobilising young Nigerians and other voters ahead of the polls.

Kwankwaso, who is the national leader of the Kwankwasiya movement and a former governor of Kano State, received the delegation and provided guidance on deepening the movement’s grassroots mobilisation and reach.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the movement, Hon. Samir Gaya, said Nigerians were increasingly looking for leaders with demonstrable capacity and a track record of performance. “Nigerians are set to vote for leaders with capacity and a track record. For many, Obi and Kwankwaso represent that choice,” Gaya said.

He said the Abuja engagement had provided renewed momentum for members of the movement to “hit the ground running” with voter sensitisation and mobilisation activities across the country.

A major issue discussed at the meeting was voter education and protection, with Onuoha urging members to educate citizens on measures they can take to protect their votes during the 2027 elections.

He said lessons from the recent Osun State governorship election should be studied and applied as the movement prepares for the general elections.

The delegation also briefed Kwankwaso on plans to mobilise young Nigerians nationwide to participate actively in the electoral process, including voting, monitoring polling units and documenting results.

According to the movement, the strategy is intended not only to encourage voter turnout but also to ensure that members remain actively involved throughout the electoral process.

The meeting comes amid growing political realignments and mobilisation by opposition and pro-Obi/Kwankwaso groups ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
