Police Probe Death Of 3 Siblings In Ondo Farm Settlement

Ondo State police commissioner, Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the deaths of three siblings, including 11-year-old set of twins, whose bodies were found near a small river on a farm settlement around Owena Army Barracks, Akure.

The victims were identified as Joshua Jonah, 11; his twin brother, Jacob Jonah, 11 and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.

The command said the children had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday but later left for home.

Their father was said to have discovered that the children were missing after returning home, prompting a search for them.

The search ended in tragedy on Saturday, when their bodies were discovered around the bank of a river within the farm.

Reacting to the incident, the police spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, said the command was documenting available facts and investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

He said, “The commissioner of police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

“The command is diligently documenting all available facts and circumstances surrounding the unfortunate occurrence, with a view to establishing the exact circumstances leading to the children’s deaths.”

The police image maker added that the CP had commiserated with the bereaved family and assured them of the command’s commitment to establishing the facts surrounding the incident.

The command advised parents and guardians to exercise greater vigilance over their children, particularly around rivers, ponds, streams and other bodies of water.
