Ex-APC Vice Chairman Eta Demands Probe Of Atiku Over Alleged Financial Crimes

Ntufam Hilliard Eta, former National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies to immediately investigate financial crime allegations involving African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

In outlining his call for an inquiry, Eta cited a formal petition submitted to the EFCC on September 1, 2026, requesting the reopening of financial crime inquiries dating back to 2005–2006. He also referenced findings from a 2010 United States Senate investigation regarding offshore accounts, wire transfers, and transactions associated with Atiku’s associates and family members.

Eta highlighted six specific allegation areas that he argued warrant formal investigation while emphasizing that his stance does not constitute a declaration of guilt. He noted that all allegations remain unproven in court and must be evaluated through formal judicial processes rather than public speculation.

Eta urged the EFCC and other anti-graft bodies to act impartially across party affiliations, calling on the public to focus on institutional integrity rather than political partisanship. He concluded by stating that there must be no sacred cows, no political immunity, and no trial by media, demanding that the law take its course based strictly on evidence.
