Abia State Command of the Nigeria Police has inaugurated the State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe Schools Initiative in Umuahia, the state capital.
At the event, yesterday, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, highlighted the command’s ongoing operational efforts in ensuring security and safeguarding schools across the state.
He said the efforts include routine patrols around educational institutions, daily monitoring of area commands and divisions, and documentation of security activities to ensure accountability and responsiveness.
The CP commended the PCRC for what he described as a bo ld and timely initiative, noting that community-driven support remains critical to effective policing.
He also encouraged the PCRC to sustain the momentum, deepen stakeholder collaboration, and ensure that the initiative translates into visible safety outcomes in schools across the state.
In his remarks, the coordinator of the initiative, Kpakpando Igboaulam, expressed appreciation to the commissioner for his unwavering support and committed leadership .
Igboaulam, who assured that the PCRC would justify the confidence reposed in it, added that the initiative would set a benchmark for school safety across the country.
