Gov Bala Mohammed Greets New NUJ Bauchi Executives

Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has congratulated the newly elected executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, led by Comrade Isah Garba Gadau of the Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV) as chairman.

The governor, in a congratulatory message issued by his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, yesterday, also congratulated the newly elected secretary, Ishiyaka Isma’il Wunti of Globe FM, Bauchi, following their emergence at the NUJ State Council election held on Saturday.

Other elected members of the State Working Committee are Danjuma Sarki Sale of the Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC), vice chairman; Aliyu Sambo of BATV, assistant secretary; Adama Ibrahim of the State Information Chapel, treasurer; Khalid Idris Doya of the Correspondents’ Chapel, financial secretary and Ibrahim Abubakar of Radio Nigeria, auditor.

Governor Mohammed described the election as an important demonstration of the NUJ’s commitment to democratic principles, unity, professionalism and the strengthening of journalism and media practice in the state.

He commended members of the NUJ Bauchi State Council for their maturity, peaceful disposition and active participation in the electoral process, which he said contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the election.

The governor also applauded the electoral committee for its diligence and commitment to ensuring an orderly exercise, noting that the peaceful transition of leadership reflected the strong democratic culture within the union.

He assured the new NUJ leadership of the Bauchi State Government’s continued support and respect for journalists and the media, particularly their role in promoting good governance, accountability, development and peaceful coexistence.

Governor Bala extended the hand of friendship, partnership and fraternity of the state government to the new council, expressing his administration’s readiness to work with the NUJ leadership in advancing the interests of the media community and the overall development of Bauchi State.

He urged the newly elected executives to uphold the confidence reposed in them by NUJ members by promoting unity, professionalism, ethical journalism and the welfare of journalists throughout their tenure.

The governor also assured the new NUJ leadership of his administration’s commitment to the welfare and professional development of journalists in the state.

He specifically pledged that the ongoing construction of a new and befitting NUJ Secretariat would be completed and delivered to the union before the end of his tenure.

According to him, the project is part of his administration’s efforts to provide journalists with a conducive and modern environment to effectively discharge their professional responsibilities.

While wishing the new leadership a fruitful, peaceful and successful tenure, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed optimism for a stronger and mutually beneficial relationship between the Bauchi State Government and the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
