Delta Police Arrest Education Commissioner, 3 Others Over Deputy Director’s Death

Also declares manhunt for two other key suspects.

The Delta State Police Command has arrested the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, and three others over the death of Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, a Deputy Director in the state Ministry of Secondary Education.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, 28 September 2026, saying the arrests had brought the number of suspects in custody to five.

The command also declared a manhunt for two other persons it identified as key suspects — the Director of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs Clemetine Ufuoma, and Clement Apia, the commissioner’s driver.

According to the police, the two are wanted to assist investigators in the ongoing probe and have been urged to report to the command without further delay.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Erale, said the investigation would be thorough, impartial and professional.

Erale assured the deceased’s family and the public that due process would be followed and anyone found culpable would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.

The command also offered condolences to the family of the deceased.
