Rihanna Shooting Case: Accused Woman Found Fit To Stand Trial

A California judge has ruled that Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, the woman accused of opening fire on the Los Angeles residence of music superstar Rihanna and her partner A$AP Rocky, is mentally competent to stand trial.

Superior Court Judge Maria Cavalluzzi issued the ruling on Tuesday following psychiatric evaluations of the 36-year-old Florida resident. The decision reinstates criminal proceedings, which had been temporarily suspended pending the mental health assessment.

Ortiz faces attempted murder and more than a dozen other felony charges following the March 8 incident, where she allegedly fired over 20 rounds from a rifle at the couple’s Beverly Hills property. While no injuries were recorded, bullets struck a trailer occupied by the couple and an exterior wall near a nursery where their young children were located.
