Tems, Runtown Bring Fans Closer At Spotify’s Lagos Surround Sound Sessions

Spotify has brought Nigerian music fans into intimate live performances by Tems and Runtown as part of its Surround Sound series in Lagos.

The two-night event, held at Livespot, featured selected Spotify Premium subscribers who were invited directly by the streaming platform based on their listening activity.

Unlike a conventional concert, the experience was not open to the general public through ticket sales. Spotify said the format is designed to place artists and fans in close proximity while recording the performances as full-length music films.

Tems Takes Fans Through Her Music Journey

Tems performed songs spanning different stages of her career, including tracks from her debut EP For Broken Ears, such as ‘Ice T’ and ‘Damages’.

She also revisited earlier releases including ‘Mr Rebel’ and ‘Try Me’, before performing more recent songs such as ‘Love Me JeJe’ and ‘What You Need’.

The singer encouraged the audience to sing along, making the selected listeners an active part of the performance.

Runtown Returns To Live Band Performance

Runtown headlined the second night, opening with ‘Lagos to Kampala’ and ‘Gallardo’ before performing songs including ‘For Life’, ‘International Badman Killa’, ‘Unleash’ and ‘Kini Issue’.

His 2016 hit ‘Mad Over You’ became one of the night’s major moments, with the singer performing the song twice before using it again to close the show as fans joined in.

Runtown said the performance marked his first time performing with his band in 10 years, adding that he was looking forward to reconnecting with his fans.
