The North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network has announced plans to hold a mega rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, October 10, to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
The rally will be hosted by Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, with First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu expected to headline the event.
In a statement signed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the network said the rally was aimed at demonstrating the North Central region’s support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
The announcement followed a meeting of North Central APC stakeholders held in Abuja on Thursday, October 8, and chaired by Yilwatda.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; governors and deputy governors from the region; ministers; members of the National Assembly; and other political office holders.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, Yilwatda expressed condolences to the families of victims of the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State and the mining-related tragedy in Niger State.
He described the incidents as painful losses and sympathised with the bereaved families and affected communities.
On the planned rally, the APC national chairman said political leaders from the North Central region had agreed to mobilise their respective political structures and supporters to ensure a strong turnout.
He described the proposed gathering as the “mother of all rallies”, saying it was intended to demonstrate the region’s commitment to the re-election of Tinubu and Shettima in 2027.
Yilwatda said the stakeholders were determined to coordinate their mobilisation efforts and strengthen grassroots engagement in support of the APC presidential ticket.
The meeting also recognised Akume’s role in bringing together political stakeholders from across the region and commended Governor Sule for hosting the rally in Nasarawa State.
Participants welcomed the planned attendance of the First Lady and reviewed arrangements for the participation of party leaders, women, youth groups, grassroots organisations and supporters from the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The meeting ended with a reaffirmation of the stakeholders’ commitment to the successful hosting of the Lafia rally and their support for the re-election of Tinubu and Shettima in 2027.
