Governor Kefas Deploys Multi-billion Naira Farm Machinery In Taraba

Taraba State governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has commenced the deployment of modern agricultural machinery, as part of efforts to transform the state into a major food production hub in Nigeria.

The state government said the multi-billion-naira intervention is aimed at improving mechanized farming, increasing productivity and supporting farmers across the 16 local government areas of the state.

The machineries, which arrived in Jalingo, includes tractors, combine harvesters, excavators and other heavy-duty agricultural equipment expected to enhance land preparation, irrigation support and harvesting operations.

The Commissioner for Information and Re-Orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, who disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Jalingo, is hopefully that the gesture will boost food production in Taraba.

According to the commissioner, the initiative will provide farmers with subsidized access to modern farming tools to reduce post-harvest losses, expand cultivable land and improve food production across the state.

Barr. Jalingo explained that the agricultural mechanisation programme forms a major component of Governor Kefas’ “Moving Forward” agenda, aimed at modernizing agriculture and improving the livelihoods of rural communities.

She said the intervention is also expected to stabilize food prices, strengthen food security and create economic opportunities for thousands of residents.

She added that, the move underscores the administration’s commitment to using agriculture as a driver of sustainable development, job creation and inclusive economic growth in Taraba State.
