Popular Hollywood stars Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez are set to lend their voices to ‘Not Alone’, a new animated feature from Illumination and Universal Pictures.
The studio announced that the film will be released in cinemas on April 16, 2027, replacing the previously scheduled Untitled Illumination Event Film. The announcement was made during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.
In his first feature-length animated role, Chalamet will voice Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic who prefers a quiet life in solitude. Gomez will star as Fran, a talented astro-botanist working on the world’s first plant-powered rocket.
According to the film’s synopsis, Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare for the maiden launch of the groundbreaking spacecraft. While there is an immediate connection between them, neither is particularly skilled at navigating romance.
Their lives take an unexpected turn when three mischievous alien fugitives: Dunk, Welly and Shirm, seek refuge in Joe’s home while fleeing a determined but inept law enforcement officer named Zandro. The trio soon discover that Fran’s revolutionary rocket could be their ticket home, setting the stage for an intergalactic adventure.
‘Not Alone’ is expected to blend comedy, romance and science-fiction elements in a family-friendly animated story.
