Content creator Jarvis has responded to criticism from rapper YCee regarding what he described as “Peller culture” or an “Olodo uprising” on social media.
The clash began after YCee criticized the growing popularity of content that he believes rewards people for doing “dumb” or sensational things online, arguing that it sends the wrong message to young people and may discourage them from valuing education.
Reacting to the comments, Jarvis defended content creators, arguing that many educated Nigerians have struggled to find employment despite earning university degrees.
She questioned what graduates are expected to do when job opportunities are scarce.
According to Jarvis, creating content online has become a legitimate means of earning a living for many young people.
She pointed out that she herself graduated from school and rejected the idea that content creators are necessarily opposed to education.
Jarvis also argued that different people have different interests and talents, stating that while some people may identify with what critics call “Peller culture,” she personally identifies with “AI culture.”
In her remarks, Jarvis expressed gratitude for digital platforms and technological innovations that have enabled young Nigerians to generate income online.
She suggested that without such opportunities, many youths would face even greater economic hardship.
