First Lady Champions Breastfeeding As Foundation For Healthy Nation

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on mothers, especially lactating mothers, to embrace breastfeeding, describing it as the foundation for a child’s healthy growth and lifelong development.

In her message to commemorate the 2026 World Breastfeeding Week, observed from August 1 to 7, the First Lady joined the global community in supporting this year’s theme, “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”

She said breastfeeding lays the foundation for a child’s healthy growth and lifelong development, making it a vital investment in families and a nation.

The First Lady also encouraged mothers, particularly lactating mothers, to adopt healthy lifestyles and eat nutritious foods for their well-being and that of their children.

“I encourage mothers, especially lactating mothers to embrace healthy lifestyles and eat nutritious foods for their well-being and that of their children,” she said.

Senator Tinubu wished Nigerians a happy World Breastfeeding Week.
