Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on mothers, especially lactating mothers, to embrace breastfeeding, describing it as the foundation for a child’s healthy growth and lifelong development.
In her message to commemorate the 2026 World Breastfeeding Week, observed from August 1 to 7, the First Lady joined the global community in supporting this year’s theme, “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”
She said breastfeeding lays the foundation for a child’s healthy growth and lifelong development, making it a vital investment in families and a nation.
The First Lady also encouraged mothers, particularly lactating mothers, to adopt healthy lifestyles and eat nutritious foods for their well-being and that of their children.
“I encourage mothers, especially lactating mothers to embrace healthy lifestyles and eat nutritious foods for their well-being and that of their children,” she said.
