Abia PHCs Record Over 1m Attendance In 12 Months ‎

Abia State commissioner for information, Okey Kanu said outpatient department of Primary Healthcare Centres in the state, recorded over 1.067 million attendance between July 2025 and June 2026.

‎Kanu stated this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the state’s executive committee meeting chaired by the governor, Alex Otti in Umuahia the state capital.

‎He said more than 20 per cent of the attendance were recorded at 50 among the 151 newly factionalized centres in the  state by the Alex Otti-led administration.

‎Speaking further, he informed that the state had not officially recorded any incidence of disease of public health importance during the period under review.

‎He further said the state had emerged as the number one in healthcare affordability and among the top three states in healthcare quality in Nigeria by Philips Consulting SPI rating .

‎”This represents an independent validation of the administration’s efforts to reposition the state’s health sector and improve access to quality healthcare for residents.

‎“His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti’s transformation agenda, particularly in the health sector, continues to receive rave reviews across the country and beyond,” he elaborated.

‎According to him, the state was the only one that achieved top three positions in 13 out of 16 indicators of good governance based on citizens’ perception.

‎Kanu maintained that the state’s strong performance in healthcare affordability and quality further demonstrates the impact of the administration’s reforms.
