Davido Rejects APC Youth Leader’s Claims About His Role In Osun Election

Afrobeats star Davido has rejected claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, about his involvement in the party’s defeat in the recently concluded Osun State governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke the winner of the August 15 election.

Following the result, Israel argued that the APC needed younger figures with the kind of influence and reach Davido demonstrated during the campaign. He said the singer had been placed at the centre of youth mobilisation and used his networks, music, digital presence and personal credibility to connect with young voters.

Israel questioned whether the APC had comparable young figures who could mobilise supporters and give the party a stronger connection with younger Nigerians.

Davido, however, pushed back against the assessment in a post on X on Monday, distancing himself from the suggestion that he had led a wider mobilisation effort.

“I brought no one! No one defended me! I backed my family on my own!! You guys r ruthless and disgusting!” he wrote.

The singer added that he had done his part and expressed his frustration with politics.

“I have done my job! Nigerian politics is evil, AND I DON’T WANT TO BE A PART OF IT TILL GOD HELPS US!” he added.
