Chairman of the Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State, Hadji Femi Yusuf, has praised President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of a Brigade Command of the Nigerian Army in Omu-Aran.
He described the development as a major boost to security coverage in the area.
LEADERSHIP reports that the council had witnessed many cases of kidnapping in recent times.
Yusuf, who spoke with journalists after the council ‘s security meeting in Share, the LGA’s headquarters, applauded the recruitment of more personnel into the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
He also appreciated the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his consistent and timely support for security institutions, noting that the governor’s interventions had continued to strengthen security efforts across the state.
Yusuf said the council had approved the partial opening of the Oreke mining site, subject to proper monitoring and scrutiny to improve economic activities in the area.
He stressed that trucks operating from the site would be monitored and made available for necessary inspections to ensure that their operations are carried out responsibly and in line with the established guidelines.
He said that his administration would continue to support security efforts while creating room for responsible economic activities that could improve the standard of living of the people of Ifelodun local government.
