The Imole Campaign Council has commenced a comprehensive post-election review following the conclusion of the Osun State Governorship Election.
The statement was signed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., Spokesperson of the Imole Campaign Council on monday .
As part of the exercise, the Campaign Council has directed its structures across the 30 local government areas of the state to immediately begin documenting all persons affected by violence before, during and immediately after the election.
The council said the documentation would cover persons who sustained injuries, families who lost loved ones, individuals whose properties were damaged or destroyed, as well as other identifiable victims of election-related violence.
It stressed that the exercise would not be partisan, saying every victim would be documented irrespective of political affiliation, party membership or voting preference.
“Violence against any citizen diminishes us all, and no family should be forgotten simply because of their political persuasion,” the council said.
While expressing gratitude to God and the people of Osun State for the outcome of the election, the Campaign Council acknowledged that its victory could not erase the pain suffered by families who lost loved ones, sustained injuries or suffered property damage during the electoral process.
According to the council, responsible leadership requires that, beyond the political contest, attention must also be given to the human consequences of the election and that the experiences of victims are properly documented.
It therefore directed all local government structures to submit comprehensive and verifiable records of affected persons for further review and appropriate action.
“The election is over. Our common humanity must now take precedence over political differences.“Osun comes first,” the Campaign Council said.
